Rescued Horse & Donkey BFFs Are Adopted Together

Earlier this summer, the Scottish SPCA took in a horse named Tully and his donkey BFF, Eric. The pair were surrendered by their owner after a “change of circumstances” left them unable to care for the animals. The stress of being uprooted from their home drove Tully and Eric even closer to one another. SSPCA staff knew the duo would be heartbroken if separated, so they posted an appeal in search of an adopter willing to take on both boys.

Thankfully, a loving couple got wind of their plight and decided to add Tully and Eric to their herd!

Diana and Kevin Lawson, owners of West Stoneyhill Farm, near Stonehaven, Aberdeenshire, realized the difficulty the SSPCA faced in rehoming the bonded pair together.

“I know a lot of people who would have taken a horse and a lot of people who would have taken a donkey, but getting someone to take on both was another matter,” Diana told SWNS.com. “We have got other horses and livestock, so we knew it was important they fitted in. We decided to go and have a look and see if they were easy-osy. We went out and saw them and they were absolutely fantastic.”

Tully and Eric have resided at West Stoneyhill Farm for just over two weeks now, and according to the Lawsons they are settling in wonderfully.

“They get on really well with all the other horses and animals,” Diana said. “The pair of them are really lovely. They have got a home for life here.”

Graeme Innes, manager of the SSPCA’s centre in Drumoak, Aberdeenshire, said:

“It’s an odd pairing with Eric being a donkey and Tully being a warmblood cross, but who are we to judge?”
