Horse shows are exciting and fun opportunities to show off what we and our horses can do. But if you’re heading out to a horse show unprepared, you’ll be nervous and the experience might not be an enjoyable one. Here are 6 ways to make sure that you’re ready for your horse show.
1. Know the Requirements
Before you head off to a horse show, do your homework. Find out about the show’s rules and what you should expect to be asked to do in each class. Make sure that you are familiar with rules for your division which might affect your eligibility and placing – for instance, check to see if the bit that you are using is legal, and if you’re using a martingale or breastplate, find out if they are acceptable.
