Mischievous 50lb Horse Becomes An Internet SUPERSTAR!

If you haven’t heard of Shammy, you need to get out more! Shammy is a miniature horse with a rare form of Dwarfism…but that hasn’t stopped him from becoming an internet superstar!

Weighing in at just 50 pounds and measuring a bit over 20 inches, he is just 6 inches taller than the smallest horse on record. (Guinness Book of World Records).

Unfortunately, due to his dwarf gene, he has an undershot jaw, short neck, nostrils on top of nose, breathing issues and crooked legs, as his Facebook page tells fans. That means he will most likely have complications later in life.

But he has TONS of personality, mostly mischievous, which has made him endearing to fans all over the world. And his owner is determined to give him a good life and keep him happy and pain-free for as long as she can.

He has a Facebook following of over 25,000 and if his owner, Michele Puryear, doesn’t post often, people start asking her where he is!

“If I don’t post a video every few days, I have people saying, ‘Hey, where’s Shammy? What’s Shammy doing today? I miss Shammy. I need my Shammy fix,'” Says Puryear.

From playing ball, to dressing up and getting into any trouble he can, Shammy entertains his fans daily.

But, he is also a love bug. Puryear says she can cuddle with him for as long as she wants – he just soaks it up! In fact, she says he is more like a dog than a horse.

Follow Shammy on Facebook to keep up on his latest escapades and the book Puryear is working on that’s all about little Shammy. Does your horse act like a dog? Tell us in the comments.
