Cat Explores The English Countryside Atop His Pony BFF's Back

Why walk when you can ride? That's Louis the Cat's philosophy! He and his equine BFF, Comet the Pony belong to horse trainer, Emma Massingale of North Devon, England.

Louis' unusual riding habit first came about when Massingale noticed that not only was the cat fearless around Comet, the pair actually seemed to share a bond.

“It all started when I was riding Comet and I would just tap my leg and Louis would jump on," Massingale told Caters News. "Now all I have to do is tap Comet's back and Louis is straight there. He doesn't need any more encouragement than that. Louis rides whenever he likes really.”

On rainy or chilly days Louis prefers to stay inside, but that doesn't mean he ignores his friend! The cat still makes his way to the barn for a lazy afternoon snuggle with Comet.

“I often find them nuzzling up together," Massingale said. "I think horses like cats because they're so playful, but Comet really likes Louis. It's nice for them to be able to take in the scenery together and Louis is really confident up there. When he has had enough he'll just jump off.”

Although they have become well known in their hometown of Holsworthy, North Devon, some folks still do a double take when they see Comet stroll by with a Siamese cat in his saddle!
