Philadelphia has yet to put the days of horses in the streets behind them.
Lonnie Sullivan was paying a visit to the Fletcher Street Urban Riding Club stables in Philadelphia’s Strawberry Mansion neighborhood when a mare, Proud Queen, bumped him and knocked him over. He hopped on a bike and rode after her, but was (of course) no match for a speeding horse!
Police eventually joined in the chase, and had to shut down an intersection to intercept her.
She was captured on the opposite side of Philadelphia, about five miles away from where she started. The chase was over, but for about a half hour there, Proud Queen ran for all she was worth!
It’s not the sort of behavior one wants from their horse, but what do you expect from a mare named Proud Queen?
