Life isn't easy for children growing up in Coldharbour Ward, Brixton, South London. Considered one of the most disadvantaged inner city neighborhoods in England, kids face high dropout rates, teen pregnancy, gang violence and drug related crime.
For 20 years, the non-profit Ebony Horse Club has been devoted to improving the self esteem and life skills of these young people through horse riding, outdoor activities and mentoring.
Up to 160 kids visit the center each week, learning valuable life skills they can use to succeed later in life. Over the past two decades, many at-risk youths have been inspired to turn their lives around and have gone on to college, university or horse-related careers.
