2. Check Pasture Gates
Check all of the pasture gates to make sure that they are strong and functioning well. Gates should swing easily on their hinges, and they shouldn’t be rusting or have any sharp edges. Be particularly careful with metal gates, since they can start to rust and pull apart over time, creating sharp corners.
After inspecting the gate, look at the latch. It should close securely every time, and it should also be horse-proof so that it keeps even the most determined escape artist contained.
